Transition 

We aim to make transition from pre-school to reception a happy and smooth experience for both children and parents. We work closely with a range of feeder pre-schools to get to know the children who will be starting at our school in the following September.

To give your child as many opportunities as possible to meet the Early Years team and explore the learning enviorment we will be hosting a Stay and Play each month in our Reception classrooms and fantastic outdoor learning spaces. These sessions will be opened up for younger members of the community to come and enjoy with their parents or family members. Each session will last for 1 hour and there will be juice and biscuits for the children and a well deserved cup of tea for the adults! 

The session is entirely devoted to free play allowing children to become familiar with the toys and activities that will be on offer if and when they join our Reception classes. These include puzzles and construction toys, the home corner,  floor toys and creative activities such as playdough, painting and junk modelling. The children will have a chance to play in the classroom, as well as play in the outdoor area.

You are welcome to come to as many of the sessions as you and your son or daughter would like: we understand the transition can be daunting for both parent and child and this is a practical way of making the next step in their life something to look forward to, rather than feeling anxious and overwhelmed.

This is an ideal opportunity for you and your child to experience our school together, meet some of our staff and become familiar with the school environment. It’s also a good time to ask questions and talk to other families.
